We had an amazing send-off at Indianapolis airport last Wednesday! Parents, siblings, cousins, and friends came out to see us off on our journey, and multiple news stations were there to cover it all. Thank you to everyone who came out as well as to those who sent your love and well wishes. Check out the coverage of our departure on RTV6 below!
Buddhist Temple Visit
On Sunday, Thrival students and teachers visited a local Buddhist temple. They learned some history of the religion as well as some traditions and practices. After visiting the temple, they had the opportunity to sit with one of the village’s monks and learn more about Buddhism. At the end of our time together, the monk presented each Thrival student and staff with a sai sin (a cotton thread to wish good luck).
Students will participate in their first homestay at the end of this week. They will stay with families in a community which has hosted American students for almost 20 years. Students will visit the local temple with families and have time to interview them about Thai culture and values.
Stay tuned next week to hear about our first homestay!
